Yesterday at therapy our daughter had a breakthrough. The attachment therapist was challenging her illogical thinking and she blurted it out... "none of its true! Its all lies! I don't want to lie anymore!" Then she explained to the therapist and the therapist helped her understand her feelings... she didn't get love like Izzy does. She never had attachment as a baby and she wants to do everything she can do in order to get attention... including making false, horrible accusations against her family members. She called me and apologized, she talked to her dad, her brothers, she told us all that she was sorry for lying all these months and all the pain that she put us through.
Wow.
We have waited so long to hear her be honest. We are thankful that it feels like we can finally move forward. We are hopeful that its REAL and that its not just another ploy in order for her "to get something". (She has asked several times of the foster Mom if we are going to give her the sewing machine she knows we got her for Christmas. And we have explained that its not happening right now.) I know its hard to sit here and write that it might not be real when we are truly hoping that it is real and that we can finally start moving forward as a family. BUT... we have to keep our guard up, our walls up, to protect ourselves.
Next week we will go to therapy with her and continue working towards healing.
Please keep on praying.
This was definitely a Christmas miracle and God must be hearing our prayers!
